Meadowsweet is the herbal aspirin.

Meadowsweet contains a substancecalled salicylic acid and in the late 1890s a pharmaceutical company formulated a new drug called acetlsalicyic acid, which we know better as asprin.

It is the salicylate in Meadowsweet that have the anti-inflammatory action on rheumatic pain and fever, minor injuries, joint and muscle pain as well as being antiseptic and diuretic.  

Meadowsweet is also one of the better herbs to help the digestive system; it will help protect the digestive tract and reduce excess acid.

Has a gentle astringent action that will hep with scouring.
